Ohio State-USC in Primetime: Somewhere Brent Musberger pumped his fist

Wow, let the hype begin after the announcement from ABC to put the Ohio State-USC game at 8pm EST. Hopefully Steve Lavin shared the news with Musberger this morning at breakfast somewhere in West Lafayette or Champaign or East Lansing. Judging from the atmosphere surrounding the Texas game in 2005, this one is going to a circus all week. Terrelle Pryor against Taylor Mays and the USC defense. Wow. Is Eddie George's Grille 27 taking table reservations yet??

If I was a USC fan, you might want to cover up those cardinal and gold colors. I would anticipate a pretty hostile environment that weekend.

The Sept. 12 game in Ohio Stadium will kick off at 8 p.m. Eastern and be televised by ESPN, Ohio State announced today.

"We want to thank ABC/ESPN for making this announcement early so Buckeye fans can plan their schedules for this exciting matchup," OSU athletics director Gene Smith said.

Here's an early look at that September 12, 2009 date in college football

South Carolina at Georgia
UCLA at Tennessee
Notre Dame at Michigan
USC at Ohio State

I love it! Spurrier-Richt, Kiffin's first big moment on the national stage, Weis-Rich Rod both looking to calm the waters with their respective fanbases in the Big House, and a great intersectional matchup in the Horseshoe.

Only 7 months until the start of college football.
